2 Chapter 1 Zytel® Nylon Resins for Injection Molding Composition and Properties Zytel ® nylon resins are thermoplastic polyamides having properties that place them high on the list of engineering plastics. Zytel® nylon resins are tough and withstand repeated impact.

The renewably sourced DuPont™ Zytel® RS nylon is produced by a chemical reaction between organic compounds derived from the castor plant and petroleum. Additives, including glass fiber and others are incorporated to produce the resultant eco-friendly resin, which DENSO jointly developed with DuPont Automotive.

The glass fiber-reinforced nylon engine mount bracket was designed using MoldFlow® analysis to establish the joint lines and fiber orientation. Displacement and component stresses dependent on fiber orientation were simulated and the component was modified according to simulation results.
